  1. Find the right people who:
    1. Are in positions of influence and are key players (especially front-line managers) in the organization
    2. Have expertise in different disciplines, work experience, etc. that are relevant to the task at hand
    3. Have credibility and good reputations and will be taken seriously when making pronouncements
    4. Possess the leadership skills to drive the change process
  2. Turn the Coalition into a High Performance Team
    1. Create trust and build a sense of team among the Coalition
      1. Carefully planned meetings to allow people to communicate freely and openly and to learn how to work together
      2. Have group work together to solve problems and address issues
    2. Develop a common goal that appeals to the heart as well as the head
      1. Charter the scope of the project identifying customers, services & products, inputs & outputs, and guiding principals
      2. Determine roles & responsibilities of the team members
      3. Provide intensive, but applied, training for team members on subjects ranging from team building and leadership to managing complex change
